Society Event For The Army
By invitation, over the period of the recent anniversary of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana, the Society, represented by Ian Knight and Dr David Payne, conducted a two day event for the army on Salisbury plain. The days were given over to lectures and displays of Zulu War artefacts, and the evening of the 22nd January was celebrated with a gala dinner in the Officers’ Mess, with Zulu War artefacts on display.
It was all a great success. A message was received from the Officer Commanding which included the following;
Thank you for making the celebration of the battle of Rorke’s Drift so memorable. Both the soldiers whom you spoke to during the day and all the attendees of the evening dinner in the Officers’ Mess were vocal in their praise.
I have received a number of ‘thank you’ letters from our invited guests highlighting the Society’s contribution making the event special.
I can guarantee we will be in touch for next year’s celebrations.
